Hey! This is Melissa.
I’m a Miami-based photographer with a background in interior design and a lifelong love of visual storytelling. Years spent creating and refining beautiful spaces shaped my understanding of light, composition, and atmosphere—elements that now define my portrait work.
Through Softlight Society, I document motherhood, love, milestones, and the seasons of life that deserve to be remembered. My sessions are thoughtfully guided and intentionally lit, creating heirloom imagery that feels natural, refined, and timeless.
I believe the most meaningful portraits are not just seen—they are felt.
Why I do this
Ever since I was a little girl, I always had a camera in my hand. I was the friend or family member who never let a meaningful moment go undocumented. I've always believed photographs have the power to preserve time, and that's what inspires me to capture motherhood, family, and life's most meaningful milestones.

Every family has a story that's uniquely their own. I take the time to get to know you, understand your dynamic, and learn what matters most so I can create imagery that feels authentic, personal, and worthy of becoming part of your family's legacy.
Fun Facts about me
When I'm not behind the camera, you'll often find me writing children's books. I've self-published four picture books and am currently working on my fifth. Storytelling has always been at the heart of what I do—whether it's through words or photographs.
